Roy Wood Jr. weighs in on Katt Williams viral interview: â…nephews should stay out of it.â
As the internet continues to be in a frenzy from Shannon Sharpe’s viral interview with comedian Katt Williams on the podcast show, “Club Shay Shay”, Roy Wood Jr. weighed in on the controversy.
“When ya uncles get to fighting at the BBQ, the nephews should stay out of it,” said Wood after an X user, formerly known as Twitter, asked the comedian what his thoughts were on the matter.
The tweet has garnered over 4,500 reposts.
Before tweeting his neutral stance on social media, Wood joked about how the names involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking case was delayed so we could finish watching the Katt Williams interview.
Wood and Smiley have comedian history together dating back to the early 2000′s when Wood would fill in for Smiley on Birmingham’s WBHJ, 95.7 JAMZ. Similarly to Smiley, Wood became popular for his prank phone calls. In a Washington Post story, Smiley said, “Wood was a genius with it.”
On “Club Shay Shay” Williams went after many comedians during the interview, but one that seems to standout the most were his comments about comedian Rickey Smiley. Williams, who made his movie debut in “Friday After Next” as Money Mike, accused Smiley of lying about who the role was for originally. Ultimately, Williams played the role of Money Mike, and Smiley played Santa Clause in the movie threequel.
Smiley originally went on Sharpe’s podcast show nearly a year ago when he told the story of how he originally auditioned to play Money Mike in “Friday After Next”. Smiley addressed Williams’ accusations on his nationally syndicated morning show, “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show”, on Thursday saying, “I had no reason to lie about that.”
Smiley even encouraged his listeners to attend Williams’ upcoming comedy shows in Birmingham and Huntsville.
